What is Grounding?

Grounding refers to connecting with the earth, resulting in many health benefits.

If I’m grounded, how will I feel?

The most noticeable effect that people have from being grounded is that they generally ‘Feel Better’. It has also been described as feeling more at peace within themselves, feeling a lot calmer than they normally would and in turn reduce stress levels.

If I’m not grounded how will I feel?

Most likely the feelings of being ‘scattered’, unable to make decisions, ‘off with the fairies’ and a general ill-health feeling.

How does grounding actually work?

The Earth is a massive reservoir of negatively charged free electrons. If there is no connection to this reservoir, our bodies find it hard to balance the positive charge which comes from all the electronic devices we have in our lives today.

How do I ground myself?

The simplest way to be grounded is to go outside and place your bare feet or hands on some grass or earth, or to immerse yourself in a body of conductive water such as the sea or a mineral-rich lake.

Another very beneficial daily practise is:

Imagine a pure white light beaming from high above. With your imagination/third eye, see this white light penetrating the top of your head and flowing freely through your body. See this light flowing to every cell of your body and out through the soles of your feet into the earth. Imagine the light flowing through the layers of the earth until it reaches the earth’s core.

Another simple visualisation is to sit quietly and imagine tree roots coming from the soles of your feet. See the roots travel deep into the earth.

Wearing or having grounding crystals on you is another beneficial way to keep yourself grounded. Some recommendations are: Haematite, Smokey Quartz, Shungite, Jasper.

Remember that regular grounding can make a big difference to the way you feel during your day. A suggestion would be to try it for yourself! One day, ground yourself properly and see how you feel during the day. The next day, don’t ground yourself – then compare how you felt on both days.

Now, enjoy some time outdoors and go barefoot on the grass.
